Downtown Whitewater Improvements Underway!
11/4/2026

A little construction mess today means a safer, more accessible tomorrow!
At the July City Council meeting, the governing body approved a bid from Pope's Concrete and Construction to construct ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps at four intersections along E. Topeka Street, along with an additional ramp near the Meat Locker on the alley side.
Work officially got underway November 3, following the City's previously scheduled community events. These improvements will provide better accessibility and a smoother, safer pedestrian experience in some of Whitewater's most heavily traveled areas.
We recognize there are other locations throughout our community where sidewalks could use attention and additional ADA-compliant access would make a difference. While there is still work to be done, these improvements are a great start toward making Whitewater more accessible and pedestrian-friendly for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities.
We know it may look a little messy while the work is underway, but we're excited to see these improvements take shape!
A little progress today makes for a better Whitewater tomorrow!
Thank you for your patience as this work is completed, and please use caution around the construction areas.
